Anchor is an Independent Baptist Church and has a friendly, Bible-focused congregation serving neighbors across Wellsville and Allegany County. We are a family-integrated, KJV-believing church dedicated to traditional worship, biblical teaching, and caring for one another. Our History at Anchor Baptist Church in Wellsville, NY

On June 7, 2009, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Denver, PA, held a special meeting where they unanimously voted to establish Anchor Baptist Church in Wellsville, NY. Adopting Mt. Zion’s bylaws and faith policies, Dan Cacciola was appointed founding pastor. Pastor Dan cared deeply for his flock, serving not only our church but also Manor Hills Assisted Living, Highland Adult Day Care, and acting as chaplain for Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He served us faithfully until he moved to Heaven on January 17, 2026. His wife, Nancy, remains a loved member of our family. You can view cherished memories through these old photos on Flickr.

Signed charter document for Anchor Baptist Church in Wellsville, NY

After our official charter on December 6, 2009, God provided a dedicated place for us to gather. Early in 2012, the Presbyterian church at 83 Chamberlain St in Wellsville offered their building to us. Following focused prayer and a successful building fund drive, we were able to purchase the property in full by April 2012. Our church family has met here ever since. Most recently, we welcomed Pastor Thompson on March 15, 2026. He is honored to continue the work Pastor Cacciola began, serving not only Anchor Baptist Church but also reaching out to those at Manor Hills Assisted Living and Highland Adult Day Care with a warm and loving heart.

Throughout our history, we have been dedicated to sharing God's love and truth with our neighbors in Wellsville and the surrounding Allegany community.

Foundation of Faith

Anchor Baptist Church is a local, independent church built on the timeless truths of God's Word. We believe the King James Bible is God's preserved message for us today, and we look to its pages for guidance in our worship, our daily family lives, and how we care for others in the community.

What We Believe at Anchor Baptist Church

Our Distinctives

We focus on the clear teachings of Scripture rather than human movements or outside organizations. Our church stands as a self-governing body of believers, united by our shared love for Christ and the Bible.

A Family-Integrated Baptist Church

We believe that the family is a beautiful blessing, and we love seeing parents and children learn about God together. In our services, families stay together rather than being separated into different rooms, allowing everyone to participate in the same worship experience. This approach helps parents feel at ease and gives them the opportunity to lead their children in faith. Children and teenagers are welcome to sit with their parents or, with permission, join other friends in the sanctuary, as we all gather to honor the Lord in a respectful and loving environment.
